Liam Diamond BDS

The practice is headed by Liam, the principal and practice owner. A graduate from Queen’s University Belfast in 2005, he qualified with Distinction in Practice of Dentistry. Liam was awarded the Ralph J Smith prize by RVH Belfast for high standards of Conservative Dentistry.

After qualification, he worked for a number of years within a busy NHS practice in Belfast. After gaining experience working privately in Omagh, he joined Lenny and Associates Dental Practice in 2009, becoming the principal dentist. Since then he has been central in practice development, expansion and rebranding to the present day Diamond Dental Clinic. In April 2019 Liam joined the team at Cassidy Dental.

Liam has a special interest in aesthetic dentistry; including smile design, veneers, tooth whitening and composite bonding. Having attended courses with some of the worlds best aesthetic dentists including Walter De Voto, Gerard Chiche and Konrad Meyenberg, Liam is building a reputation for clinical excellence.

Liam is a member the British Dental Association and Committee member of the Irish Academy of Aesthetic Dentistry. He has previously worked for the Northern Ireland Medical and Dental Training Agency (NIMDTA) and is a Denplan certified dentist.

Tom Cassidy BDS, M.Med Sci

Tom qualified from The Queens University, Belfast, in 1978, having been awarded the John Malone medal for excellence in operative dentistry. As well as entering general practice, Tom retained links with Queens University Dental School by working as a clinical teacher in periodontics (gums) for 10 years.
He has undertaken extensive post graduate studies in endodontics (root canal therapy) and has also completed the highly acclaimed Advanced Restorative Dentistry course at the Eastman Dental Institute in London.
Tom qualified in 2011 for the prestigous Masters in Medical Science in Dental Implantology at Sheffield University.
He continues to further his knowledge and skills by attending local and international courses, especially those in cosmetic and implant dentistry.
His interest in dentistry is wide-ranging and extends well beyond the practice. He has held the position of chairman of the local dental committee and a member of committees for dental strategy at government level. Tom is a member of the British Endodontic Society, The British Society of Periodontology and The Association of Dental Implantology.

James Parish BDS, MJDF, MSc (Dental Implantology)

James studied dentistry at Queen’s University Belfast and graduated with distinction in 2013. During his studies he was awarded the Leo Heslin medal by the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland for a project on HPV-related oral and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.

After graduating from Queens, James moved to England to undertake further training in Bristol. He moved to Cheltenham where he worked in an NHS and private dental practice. It was during this time that James attended many courses and developed his knowledge in his main areas of interest: dental implants, prosthodontics and periodontics.

Following this James returned to Northern Ireland and took up a post with Cassidy Dental in December 2016. At this time James started studying a three-year MSc course in Dental Implantology through University of Bristol. This was an intensely academic course during which James studied the scientific literature around dental implants extensively, ensuring that his treatment planning for patients is always based upon the most up-to-date evidence. This course also included a clinical component during which James learned how to place and restore implants to the highest standards. James also enjoyed gaining valuable experience from working on many implant cases with Tom, benefiting from his many years of experience in the field. James was awarded his MSc in Dental Implantology in October 2019.

James enjoys all aspects of dentistry especially helping people overcome their fear and making their treatment easy. He has a special interest in repairing teeth so they look natural and a special interest in the replacement of missing teeth.

For relaxation he plays seven musical instruments in various groups and plays rugby on Saturdays.

Ailish McBride BDS, Dip Rest, Dent (RCSEng) MJDF1

Ailish is from Draperstown and she qualified from Queens University Belfast in 2003 with Honours. She has a special interest in cosmetic dentistry and has achieved extensive postgraduate qualifications to ensure she delivers the highest possible standards of care to all her patients.

Ailish was awarded the Diploma of Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties at the Royal College of Surgeons London. She was also awarded the Diploma in Restorative Dentistry. She is one of only a few dentists in Northern Ireland to hold this prestigious qualification and has a wealth of experience in cosmetic dentistry.

Ailish has a keen interest in invisible orthodontics. She is one of a small number of dentists in Northern Ireland certified in Invisalign and Inman Aligner discreet orthodontic systems. Both systems provide an alternative option to fixed train track orthodontics.

In addition, Ailish has been trained in various sedation techniques to enhance the treatment of nervous patients.

Janet Taylor

Janet joined Cassidy Dental practice as a dental nurse in 1991. She enjoyed all aspects of  dentistry so much she furthered her career and Qualified as a hygienist from the university of Birmingham in 1995. She returned to work within Cassidy dental and has continued to do so for 25 years now. She has built a great rapport with all her patients over the years and very successful in maintaining an high standard of oral hygiene.  Janet is friendly, welcoming and goes out of her way to make patients feel comfortable.

Paul Suiter BDS, MSc (Advanced Restorative)

Paul is the latest addition to the clinical team in Cassidy Dental. Originally from Magherafelt, Paul graduated from Newcastle in 2010 and then practiced in Edinburgh for a number of years, before returning home to Northern Ireland in 2018.

Paul is a most welcome addition to the practice. He is particularity interested in restorative dentistry and is constantly undertaking further study and training. He has completed his masters in Restorative Dentistry, which reflects his enthusiasm and commitment to his work.

He is easy going and his calming manner has proved to be hugely popular with his patients. In his spare time, Paul is a rugby enthusiast but most of his free time is now dedicated to his young family.

Rachel Kelly

Rachel qualified from Queen’s University Belfast in 2016. From there she completed further training in England which led her to Guy’s Hospital London. This is where she developed her skills in oral surgery and restorative dentistry. During her time in London, she learned from some of the top consultants in Oral Surgery, and completed training in sedation, this helped form her passion for surgical work. Since then, she has continued to develop these skills working in Curran Oral Surgery, one day a week where she carries out surgical extractions, including managing impacted wisdom teeth.

In 2018 on returning home she worked in dental practice in Belfast. From then, she has completed extensive further training in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Including training in composite, ceramic work, occlusion, and implant restoration. Her main ethos is restoring teeth with modern bonding techniques in a minimally invasive way.

Rachel’s most recent qualification includes completing the yearlong Diploma of Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry through the Fresh Dental Institute in London. She has really enjoyed transferring these skills to help her patient’s benefit from the highest standard of care. Transforming smiles with clear aligners and Conservative composite work is one of her favourite treatments to provide.

In her spare time, she is a keen sports enthusiast and enjoys training with friends.
